Unit Reports

On losing the semifinal 3-0:
"We did our best, it was also new for us, a semifinal in the European championships for seniors, so of course we were very stressed. So we could not make our best game but I think that in the end it is a very good result for us (to win bronze). We will come back stronger."

On three of four players in the gold medal match being Romanian:
"We are very happy because all of our three pairs were in the semifinals. Now they will play each other in the final, two of them. We are very proud and I hope that in the final the best will win. We will get a gold, silver and bronze medal in doubles so I couldn’t be more happy."

On who she thinks will win the gold medal match where Sofia Polcanova (AUT) and Bernadette Szőcs (ROU) play Elizabeta Samara (ROU) and Andreea Dragoman (ROU):
"I cannot say this because they are all my teammates. But it is Andreea Dragoman’s birthday so it could be a good present for her if she would win the gold medal. But I’m neutral in the final, I just hope for a good match."
On losing the semifinal:
"We did what we could. We knew that it would be a very tough match. We were prepared for this result, I think. But of course we could always do better."

On the opponents Sofia Polcanova (AUT) and Bernadette Szőcs:
"They know each other very well, I think, because they’ve played together for three years already. So they know how to prepare the points and they are used to each other already so that makes a big difference."
On winning a fourth consecutive match 3-0:
"We are unstoppable. And we are very happy that we won as easy because we prepared very well for this match, tactically but also mentally. And we didn’t give up one second. Also at 2-0 I told Sofia (doubles partner Sofia Polcanova, AUT) that ’we have to concentrate and we will win like before’ because we also have a singles match and we will have the finals tonight and we don’t want to be so tired.”

On her teamwork with Polcanova:
"We are very happy that we are in good shape and we are playing unbelievably well. We are fitting, we help each other in every situation and I think this is very important, that we know each other very well and we are very good friends also in private life.”

On the prospect of winning the gold medal match 3-0:
"Of course I would like to win the next match 3-0 too but right now it’s not the most important. The most important is that we win and take the gold medal because this is our dream. That’s why we are fighting so much and we have practised a lot for this gold medal.”

On facing teammates Elizabeta Samara (ROU) and Andreea Dragoman (ROU) in the final:
”Of course they are really prepared as well, they are playing really good. I know they are my teammates but this time I will not think that we are in the European championships, I will think that we are in the national championships. Then I know that I need to fight for my title, for my club and that will make it a little bit easier for me. If I think that we are teammates it will be a little bit harder.”
