Unit Reports

On losing 3-0 to Nina Mittelham (GER) and Sabine Winter (GER):
"It was actually really not good. It was not the nicest draw and they also played unbelievably good. They didn't even make small mistakes and sometimes they got lucky and we didn't move as well as we should. The small points were so important that we lost this game.
"It's OK, it's our first Europeans. It wasn't our best draw, we could've had some people who were more comfortable and maybe not German. But you can't wish the draw, you have to accept it and we will learn from this."

On her emotions:
"I'm definitely disappointed and sad and a little bit angry that we didn't play as we thought, should and could. I am just sad and I need to think a little bit about this match.
"We don't know when the next time is because we qualified from under 21 and normally it is tough for us to be in the best five of Germany, so we don't know when our next Europeans will be."
On losing 3-0 to Nina Mittelham (GER) and Sabine Winter (GER):
"We could play better but our opponents today played in a way that was very uncomfortable for us, so we didn't have a chance to play our best balls. In the end it is difficult to win against former European champions when we don't play our best."

On how well they know Mittelham and Winter:
"We know them but as singles players. We have never played doubles against their pair before, so it was a new match for us and I think they caught the rhythm faster than us. In the last set, we were pretty good but then we were a little bit unlucky at the end. It could have been a bit closer otherwise."

On not knowing when the next opportunity to play in the European championships will be:
"That's maybe why we were perhaps a little bit more under pressure or, rather, having this burden, (wanting) to play our best so much that we were maybe a little bit blocked."
On playing another German pair:
"I think we both wished to play someone else. At international competitions it's nicer not to play against the German players, especially in the home country because you (normally) have the crowds supporting you but now you don't have that."

On the 3-0 win:
"Nina (doubles partner Mittelham) and I played a lot better than yesterday. We were thinking a lot about this match and had some good tactics that worked. Now we are happy that we are in the quarterfinals."

On the difference between them and young opponents Annett Kaufmann, 16, and Franziska Schreiner, 20, from Germany:
"On one hand the experience, on the other hand, I guess they had a bit less pressure than we had because they hadn't got anything to lose.
"Nina and I know that we are the favourites and of course we also want to come forward in this tournament, but we also had a lot of matches with some pressure and I think the experience was good for thinking about a good tactics and we didn't make as many easy mistakes as yesterday. In the end I think it was a good match and we will build on that one."

On quarterfinal opponents María Xiao (ESP) and Adina Mihaela Diaconu (ROU):
"We've never played against them, so we will watch some matches from other opponents playing them and then I'm sure we will find a good solution of how to beat them."
