On what made her and Benedict Duda (GER) lose to Lubomir Pistej (SVK) and Barbora Balazova (SVK): |
---|
"There were a few small things. We lost 3-0 but every set only by two points. Even though it was 3-0 it was a pretty close match. They had some really good shots. I guess they don’t always play them on the table. With a little bit of luck maybe it could’ve gone the other way around but in the end today they deserved to win." |
|
On the difference between him and Barbara Balazova (SVK) and their opponents: |
"I think we played longer than them, but it doesn’t really matter. We played our best this match and that’s why we were stronger in the end of all sets. Maybe we were stronger in the head." On whether there is pressure coming into the tournament as vice champions: "Last year there were a bigger pressure on us. We were seeded number one. This year we just come to play and now we are in the quarterfinals, fighting for medals, so it’s perfect." |
|
On beating the home pair: |
"We really enjoyed the match. The atmosphere was good in the hall. We struggled a lot in the first match (against Martin Buch Andersen, DEN, and Ines Matos, POR), our opponents had some match balls against us so after that match somehow the stress went down, we just tried to enjoy it and now we are in the quarterfinals." On coming into these European championships with less pressure to win than last year when they were seeded No.1, despite being vice champions: "We try not to think too much about the pressure because it’s more negative than positive at the end. For me, this tournament is a goal and I’ve worked really hard towards this tournament so to just enjoy and see what the outcome will be. I think this year there are many more good pairs here so each round you are going forward is a big achievement." |
