On winning his heat and progressing straight to the final |
---|
"I wasn't sure what form I would be in after the world championships in Canada. I wanted to start with a really strong 300 metres, like I'll do in the final, and then just see if I had a shot at first place or the other semifinal qualification positions. Fortunately first place worked out." On his preparation: "Before the world championships I was in the K4 (kayak four) boat, and we switched after the world championships. It was a tough transition because of the jet lag and because of the short time between the races. So I am happy I was able to do a good race here without my full form." On racing the single rather than bigger boats: "There's beauty in both of them, but my best results have come in the single. I also enjoy team boats.." |
