On winning bronze
"I feel very good, I feel happy and proud, not just for the race today but for the work me and my coach Evelina (Menning) has done. We have given so much into this. I love doing this, and it's worth everything."

On his strengths:
"I know I have a strong finish, for example in the race now I've been working a lot on my endurance for the 500m, for the Olympic event. I did the K2 500 just before this race.

"I know I have good endurance so this is what I have in mind during this race - focus, focus focus and I know I'll have a good finish. That's what keeps me going."

On switching between the events:
"The 200 is not like it's going to be pain or anything, it doesn't feel like that. It's more how much can I focus.

"Today was a challenge to do the K2 500 just before the 200, just because of the physical and mental deloading."
On winning gold
"The feeling is amazing, to be a part of this small group of European champions, Olympic athletes and world champions, it's a big honour. Finishing first, now I'm European champion too."

On when he realised he had won:
"First I'm (in) fifth place, I go out with my team. After the result changed again and put me in first place, it's an amazing feeling. Maybe until just tomorrow I understand what I have done."

On his race:
"I do my first race perfect, I put it all on the water, and the result is there."
On winning silver, after initially being declared the winner
"It's always fun to race 200 metres. In the distance I had no idea which place I am. Even when I finished I didn't know which place I am. I just saw in the big TV that maybe I am first.

"At some point I was first, but second is also very nice. Getting this very beautiful medal is very cool."

On his competition:
"There's a lot of very fast guys even though it is not an Olympic distance. It's hard."
