Quilian Koch (FRA) On the sprint to the line: "When we got to the last 200m I said to myself it's really hard, but we have to go, we have to use the last cartridge, we have to go. When we got to the last 100m I said push to the line, leave everything out there. "When we crossed the finishing line I had no idea if we were second, third or sixth. I had no idea. It was pain, and after, joy." On their crew: "In this boat we've worked extremely hard this year. We know each other well, we tell each other things, we work together. We're a team, we're four, but it's four which becomes one. We got to the line together, and not each of us alone." Guillaume Berger (FRA) On their crew: "We get on well. It's been years that we've known each other, we've trained together. Even though the boat is new, we've paddled plenty of times together before. We're able to talk about stuff together." On the race: "The boat felt very connected, that was good. For me in the front seat I was not able to know if we were third, fourth, fifth or sixth as it was such a tight race. Someone on the shore announced we were third and it was just kind of an explosion." On working towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: "We adapted our strategy for these three years. Our boat was just born in May. "We are young together, but we have experience. We are young guys and every race we are improving. "All of us are focusing on that boat and that's a chance for us. Now we have two more years to improve and go and catch these Germans." |

"The race was I think perfect. We had the semifinal this morning, and we won the semifinal, we had a great feeling about the race. So we were looking forward to the final race. "We did our best, we didn't make mistakes in the final. It was a super-close race, one of the most close, we are really happy to close the season this style. "This medal is so beautiful, and this European festival is more than our classic European championship so we are happy, and we can celebrate now our season end." On when they knew they had won a medal: "We had to wait for the numbers on the way (to the boat checking area) to be sure it was second and we did a medal." On their sprint to the line: "I just focused on our race. I wasn't looking to other boats. I look on the line and then we have to wait for results. The K4 500 is super-close, so we have to work hard to be in the medals next year." |

Jacob Schopf (GER) On being new to the crew: "These three guys, they give me the best year this year. It was a hard year for me and also for them; for me it was a lot of pleasure. It was not easy because they are Olympic champions in the K4 and I'm the new one. Everyone is saying that if they don't win it's y fault. "That was pretty hard for me at the beginning of the season, but I recognise that's not a fact. It's not just me, we are a team, and we train hard and do a lot of team events. Then we did step by step a better performance and (now) we're European champions." Max Lemke (GER) On the season: "For us all it was a very hard season. In the winter we had a lot of problems with illness and study, and the guys who work with the Army and the police. "Now we know that we were better after every race." Max Rendschmidt (GER) On the season: "We are a new combination, we are a new boat, that means we also have new challenges. We are really happy to face these challenges and get better race by race. "If you watch our first races at the world cups, we were struggling to find our position in the boat. Leading to the world championships, we got into the right position. Jacob (Schopf) goes into the third spot in the boat, Tom (Liebscher) into the second spot, which worked out quite well. "By practising and by racing we get better race by race, and at the European championships it was definitely one of our best races, if not the best race we did so far." |
