"Now I am really European champion. I'm really happy, it's my eighth title in 500m and 11th totally.

"I'm glad if I can compete in front of big and huge crowds, in front of my family, and with friends. I hope that I will continue in these good races in the future."

On his season:
"In this season I had eight finals, eight medals, so I'm really happy. I'm looking forward to a few days of rest before I start again with hard training and prepare for Olympic qualifiers."

"This competition is hard for me. In the 1,000m (on Saturday) I had a bad start, only seventh place.

"I had a good day on this start, and I can take a silver medal like in last year's European championships."

On next season:
"A medal in international competition at high level is every time great. I will train for the next year harder to have qualification for the Olympic Games, and after I will train for the Olympics."
