On men's lead qualification
On his performance:
“I made some mistakes on the bottom part of the first route, but the second was a nine out of 10. I was enjoying my climbing and it was great to feel the crowd when I was at the top.”

On reaching the top on his second route:
“The last move was kind of scary. When I looked at the top it was quite far away but when I went into the move it was not so hard.”

On the start of the finals from Saturday:
“After a season like this, I have to aim high and yes, medals are probably the goal.”
On men's lead qualification
On his performance:
“I’m really happy with how I performed today. It went really well, better than I thought. I felt in good form in lead. Even better was yesterday in boulder. I hadn’t trained that much for it and I’m really happy to be in the semifinals.”

On his season so far:
“The last two years haven’t as gone as well as I was hoping. I’ve struggled with moving up from junior to World Cup level, but I have grown with the experience and feel much better now.”

On making his European Championships debut:
“It is a really great event to be involved in, especially with all the other sports taking place. It has the feel of an Olympics.”
On men's lead qualification
On his performance:
“So far so good. I’m really happy with today’s performance. It wasn’t perfect yet, but I climbed quite well. I handled the difficult beginning well and was able to fight in the upper parts, so that is a good feeling.”

On reaching the semifinals:
“Qualification day, I’m pretty nervous. If you perform well you should go through to the semifinals, but in boulder there are many parts you can mess up at the beginning so that adds pressure. Then it is a new venue and wall, and you have to get used to it.”
On men's lead qualification
On his performance:
“The first route involved a bit more climbing, and less bouldering and jumping around, like the second one, but I did ok on both routes. So, I’m happy with that.”

On being ready for the semifinal (on Sunday):
“The routes will change for the semifinals and final, so it is rather a case of maybe finding the right style for the routes and their setting, but qualification is about just getting through everything.”

On climbing Céüse in France before Munich 2022:
“I wanted to get the first ascent of Céüse and I did it. It is at least a confidence boost and means I entered the competition happily because I achieved something I wanted to. So I can chill and relax here.”

On the boulder final on Saturday:
“I have never made a final of boulder and that was a big goal for me, so let’s see if it will work out. I give myself a 50-50 chance. Let's see.”
