On winning silver

Emily Ford (GBR)

On winning silver:
“We’ve just got a very strong race plan that we stick to time and time again and today we wanted to execute that. I think we‘ve really stepped on from the last time we had the chance to race the Romanians.”

On their last 500m:
“I’d say that’s the last little bit that we’re trying to work on. We’re quite solid up until that point, we’ve really mastered the first 1,500 (metres). We’re starting to get towards that 500 but there’s still room for us to move and step on through there.”

On the team's improvement:
“We've had a new head coach (Andrew Randall, GBR) and he's come in and rechanged the programme around. Initially, when we were given it, it was a big shock, you really have to grit your teeth in it to get into it, but it seems to be working.”

On their race tactics:
“We’ve been working a lot on the middle k since the last World Cup, and we really nailed that coming through. We’re still sort of playing around with the last 500 – whether we take the rate up to 50, really high, or whether we stay consistent and just really press through.

“We’re just trying things out and that went as well as it could have done, we’re really happy with that.”

On winning bronze:

"We came for a win but we knew we had very tough conditions and competition. I think in a while we will be quite satisfied with this."

On sprinting through Great Britain to win gold

"We think this will be our medal, the gold medal, and we win."
