On winning gold
On winning gold:
“We want to go into every race feeling composed and in control and we’ve done a really good job of that this season. It is something we want to keep going.”

On competing in the eight on Sunday:
“I think it going to be a big challenge, but we have a great training group back home and we do a lot of work against the quad and other boats. I’m excited to see how we can turn it around in a day.

“We had the heats which were only two hours apart and we’ve learned a lot from that. A lot of the other teams are doing a similar thing.

“We're here to give our best performances in both events and we're not just gonna leave it down to four.”
On winning silver
Eimear Lambe (IRL)

On their mindset:
"We tried to keep our heads down. We knew we were underdogs coming into it, we managed to grab a bronze medal at the World Cup but tha wasn't really expected.

"We knew externally people thought we were a medal chance but we tried not to think about that. It was just our crew, our focus the whole way and that's what got us through the weekend."

On the growth of Irish women's rowing:
"Six years ago the first-ever crew boat for women's rowing made it to an Olympic final. That was an incredible moment.

"Six years on we're in a position where we can field an eight against nations twice, three times our size. Rowing has really come on in strides, especially since the boys won that (lightweight men's double sculls silver) medal in Rio (2016 Olympic Games)."

Aifric Keogh (IRL)

On the race:
"It was a good race. We wanted to start off faster and settle into our rhythm and then go for it at the end."

Tara Hanlon (IRL):

On their race plan:
"We tried something new. Usually we rely on our second half of the race but we decided this week to try something new, to go off harder than usual."
