On winning bronze |
---|
”Very happy, it's the first elite championship for me, so really glad to be in an A-final and go with the big boys. Good experience.” |

On winning gold |
Fintan McCarthy (IRL) On their finish: "We just kept consitent pace the whole way, and we had something in the end that I guess the other crews didn't. "We kind of just do what we do, hold our pace that we know we can do from training, and it seemed to work out for us. "We pushed it on in the last 500 then and that came good." On being the favourites: "We just focus on ourselves and see what happens." Paul O'Donovan (IRL) On the race: "Fintan has been going really well all year, he's really stepped up again this year, and I could feel that behind me driving me along. It made a bg difference in the second half." On coming back to the boat after a break: "I've not done as much training as in years gone by, I've not done a huge amount of formal testing either. Some of the training pieces I've done and that we've done together have been pretty good, you can see it from the result there. "We've just done a few spins before getting here, and we've been in the boat since Tuesday." On his medical studies: "I have to go back to school next week, and I need all the time studying I can get so I won't be failing all my exams and be repeating next year which is when I want to be off." |

On winning silver behind Ireland |
"It's a good result. We try always to beat the Irish, but they are so strong. "We try always. We try next time." |
