Cycling Track - Women's Points Race 25km Final Results

Messe München - 14 Aug - 19:11

On the race:
“It was a hard-fought race from the start. I saw right away that the Frenchwoman started before the first sprint and anyway I knew that she was one of the strong ones to keep an eye on, and in fact right after the sprint I tried to go and close in.

“When we came together, I still tried to sprint and manage to pass her with the points."

On the race winner:

“Lotte Kopecky had a race of her own, she had an edge over the others and she showed it tonight.”
On race tactics:
“I had good legs. Also sometimes, I waited a little bit too long to react, but every time I could close every attack. It was a really nice feeling to be so strong in the race.”

On her next event:

“My tournament is already a success. Tomorrow I'll do the Omnium. It would be nice [to continue like this] but I'll just approach it as I did yesterday and today, and try to do the best I can. We'll see where this will get me.”

On what she’s going to do with her medals, flowers and jerseys:

“I'll just buy an extra closet, it's not a problem.”
On the race:
“I attacked at the beginning, it was the idea with the coach to try to win a lap, but it didn't work. The second place was attainable, I need to be more self-confident. It was a tactical race, I'm very young, it's just the beginning of my career.”

On gold medallist Lotte Kopecky:

“She controlled all the race, we knew she was one of the best on the track and now it's also the case on the track.”

On the road race next Sunday:

“It's a main goal. I will work for the team. Of course as I'm fiery there may be a possibility during the first part of the race but the main goal is the team.”
