On her feelings after her last track competition:
“I have already had to try to keep my emotions under control a bit before the race. I noticed that with everything I think: that’s the last time now.”

On her race:

“I rode a super race again today, and I can really be satisfied.”

On winner and teammate Mieke Kröger:

“If anyone had to beat me, then it had to be her in a final like this. I’m really happy for MIeke, honestly. She deserved this. She had the faster legs, and probably also the better tactics.”

On her future:

“I think I have to take in some fresh air firstly, keep breathing. I’ll have some time, also to train off a little. I’m in the top sport group of the army. How I will exactly proceed, I don’t know yet. We’re still discussing what role I’ll take.

“It’s time to let everything pass by and look back. I really cannot imagine what I will encounter and what will go through my mind at the end of my career.

“I couldn’t endlessly go on at this performance level, but I also know how hard it is to get there and to ride for gold in the final twice. I’ll miss that.”
On if she was surprised to win:
“I had a lot more confidence in the team pursuit (which Germany won on Friday), but in the qualification (of the individual pursuit) I already found a rhythm quickly. I found my feeling, did not over-pace, and still had a little left in the tank after my race. And then I knew, if I make it into the gold medal race, I can give it my all once more, and then I could get close.”

On the race:

“I was prepared (for a fast start from opponent Lisa Brennauer), because Lisa’s strength simply is the start and the first half. My strength is the exact opposite.”

On her emotion after the race:

“It was a mix. As much as I like the team event, to win an individual title really lifts up the soul. On one side I was overwhelmed, and on the other hand, to know that this was Lisa’s farewell greeting… That’s when the emotions jump from one side to the other.”
