On winning bronze:
“I had not quite expected that. You always hope for it, but you know there’s a lot of good riders on the track. This is my second European Championships. I also competed last year, but then I crashed in 13th position and was not able to remount fast enough (within six laps) so then it’s over. You hope to redeem yourself, but to get bronze, that’s something you don’t expect.”

On her crash early on in today’s race:

“Last year I was hurt, but this year I was fine so I was back on my bike quickly to resume the race.”

On the big crash a little bit later:

“It is part of this discipline, the elimination race. I think it might be a little more chaotic because it’s on a 200m track. There’s less ease, because the straights are shorter and it (the crashes) happens in the corner twice. Maybe (on a 200m track) it happens a bit faster, but it’s always chaos.
“I rode a bit above (the second crash), but they fell on my wheel so I thought: oh no, there I go again, but I could keep it straight.”

On Letizia Paternoster being taken off on a stretcher the 25-minute race suspension after the big crash:

“You have to get on the roller, keep warm, stay focused. But you also think ouch, that doesn’t look good. I don’t want to ignore it, but I also try not to look at it too much.”
On winning silver:
“it’s the first time I’ve ridden (on the) track for quite a while, so I didn’t come here with expectations. To get a silver is pretty good for me.”

On the 200m track instead of the usual 250m track:

“I think maybe it was a bit of a benefit not having ridden any track, so any track for me would feel weird, but obviously, the nature of it being 200 metres and quite steep transitions, I think it does affect the racing quite a lot in that, especially it’s going to be hard to come out at the end. So for me it meant taking it from the front or second wheel to: a) stay out of trouble and: b) use the track to the fullest.”

On the crashes during the race and the 25-minute break in the race, because Letizia Paternoster was injured and had to be taken off the track on a stretcher:

“I started at the back so the first one was quite in front of me. I had to pick up or down and luckily I went down and I had a clear route. It was a bit crazy in the beginning with all the crashes...I think just staying focused with the restart and not getting too caught up in it.”
On winning gold:
“I am very happy. It's a nice way for me to start the tournament. It couldn't be better today.”

On positioning in the race:

“I just tried to stay out of the danger zone, out of trouble. Maybe I took a little bit more wind, wasted a little bit more energy, but in the end I stayed safe and that was the most important thing today.”

On the big crash early which led to a 25-minute break in the race, because Letizia Paternoster was injured and had to be taken off the track on a stretcher:

“It's never nice to see that. I hope [Letizia] Paternoster is okay. But when we started again, you have to switch the button in your head and think that it didn't happen.”
