On the final:
“(It was) an absolute tough race. The second run with so little time to recover was tough, so we tried to bring home the best possible result, and I am satisfied.”

On watching winner Melvin Landerneau (FRA) race in the final heat:

"I expected the Frenchman to catch up a little bit more as he had a visibly bigger gear than me. He did very well, because it takes legs to be able to recover like that until the end.”

On preparing for Munich 2022:
“I worked so hard to get to this point and I think it is also well deserved. It's a combined effort, it doesn't all come from one source. (It’s all) thanks to my team Campana Imballaggi GeoTex (the Italian aarmy team) that supports me every day in my work at home, thanks also to the Army that supports me and the national team that gives us the opportunity to participate in competitions like this.”

On the track:

“As the track is 200m, the curve is also narrower, so in the first few days that we are here we had to adapt a little bit to the radius of the curve.”

On his future:

“I am very happy with this, but I am still under 23 and so I still have a lot of time to get to the (elite) level,. It is very hard having a few hours between one run and the next, I could not recover completely."
On qualifying first:
“This morning it was good to set the best time to impress and have landmarks.”

On the final:

“For the final I talked with) with the coach, and we changed the strategy with the idea to accelerate. It's not usual on this type of race but I had the energy for it.”

On his next goals:

“Keirin tomorrow and the national championships next week. It's not easy because I had Covid three weeks ago, but I'm motivated.”

On the future of the French sprinters:

“It's a young team. Sébastien (Vigier) and me, we are only 25 years old and nearly the oldest. It's only the beginning.”
On winning bronze:
“It’s a great result for me, because it’s my first medal at elite level, and it’s extremely nice to do it in front of a hoe crowd. It was so loud, that I did not even notice that I was in the final lap.”

On waiting for the final result after he secured the bronze but two more riders were coming :

“I was happy to have a medal first. Of course you hope for more, that another one will ride slower. I’d rather have raced a little faster myself obviously, but in the end the others were simply better and I have to accept that.”

On the track:

“I’m the tuype of rider who races aggressively and therefore the aggressive track suits me well. It’s not easy, you can see that over all the different disciplines.”

On the team sprint, in which Germany finished 5th:

“The team sprint did not work out well perfectly, we know our mistakes and we know what to work on. It’s a process. We are a young team with a new national manager. We hope that it will lead us a bit more ahead in Paris (World Championships this October and Olympic Games in 2024), than here at the European Championships.”

On Munich 2022:

“The European Championships are super for the sport. For us it’s a bit of a pity that track cycling is a bit outside. Everything is at the Olympiapark and we’re here at the Messe. But in general it’s a great event. We are clearly more visible in the media.”
