On the bronze medal race:

“It was a tough race, I always managed to stay in front, but I didn't have the feeling I had this morning (in qualifying), but luckily he (his opponent Charlie Tanfield, GBR) was worse than me.”

On how he felt after the race:

“It's a great feeling, especially being an elite European championship. My goal was just to qualify and I did it. I'm also happy for (teammate and silver medallist) Davide Plebani. It is a unique emotion to be on the podium with these champions.”

On team-mate Letizia Paternoster (ITA) suffering a bad crash in the women’s elimination race straight after he won his bronze medal:

“I did not see Letizia's fall, because I was at the anti-doping, but I was told. In fact, there is a little sadness in the Italian box. I hope she is OK.”
