On the race:
“It was an exciting race, I tried my best until the end, I knew my opponent was really strong.”

On his preparations for Munich 2022:

“We arrived in a good condition. We prepared more in the team pursuit in the last period, but we still managed to come out in a very good condition.

On the Friday’s team pursuit in which Italy took silver:

“It's a pity, because in my opinion it was the chemistry on a 200m track. We couldn't hold the lines and that cost us a lot.

On the 200m track:

“The track, in my opinion, was the deciding factor in today's race. Because I come from a discipline like motocross and the lines are something I like, and I get excited about, especially the line of the track. I can get adapt fast to a new track.”
On winning gold:
“Indescribable. The public was great. It was a perfect day for me, can’t say anything else.”

On his tactics:

“I’ve firstly tried to ride a constant pace and then I could always still accelerate a bit from there onwards. I don’t really know if I managed (to accelerate), but I think I took out everything I had.”

On his confidence after qualifying first:

“(The confidence) was already huge. The time was also pretty good for me on this track. I could come here with a clear conscience and then once more give it my best (in the final), and that was enough.”

On his further goals:

“I think we must firstly make the best of our team pursuit. The individual pursuit is my personal passion, but the team pursuit comes first and the most important thing is to execute that perfectly in Paris (2024 Olympic Games).”
