Of course I would have liked to have won, but Wilma [MURTO] was amazing today, and it is great that she did it at these major championships. I am slowly getting better, but for me to be on the podium, and to get two medals in a row was great. Even though I know I have been getting better and better this season, this is probably the most important. I have two more meets, and I managed to do a Season Best in both major Championships this Summer, so I am happy but also tired. I feel started in Zurichm, in 2014, with a silver medal at the European Championships, and I feel like this is a restart, like a reboot going into next year. When we started this season, my coached asked me what my goal was, and I replied it was to not to hurt. I am happy to end the season injury-free, and thisis the first time in 3 years. This felt amazing - I feel this was the first championships I competed in the last 3 years or after Berlin. Doha and Tokyo were both empty and it didn't really have that championship atmosphere. Yesterday, the atmosphere here at the stadium was just amazing. People understand the difference between 4.40 and 4.80, and that is very important for us. My goal was to have fun, and I did - I really enjoyed it. I feel that Wilma [MURTO] had a very similar progress to mine, we both did very well in the youth groups, then a few struggles after that, so after this title here, my advice for her is to enjoy it. |
Bronze 4.75 |
During the first jump in the warm-up I cut my hand with the spikes so I need to go to the hospital now. I am happy that I could jump with injured hand and also managed to jump my season's best. I wanted the gold but I am happy with the bronze. I wasn't surprised with the win of the Finnish because she was a very sucessful junior. She exploded today. For me the focus is now on the Diamond League final and then Zagreb Meeting. |

After the world championships, I felt like there is so much more to come so I am very thankful now. This competition was just great. My dreams came true. I knew it had been in me for a long time but I just needed this day to come. Today, it felt like a perfect day to do that with my family and friends in the stands supporting me. This was like the strongest experience I have ever had. I was like in a bubble until the very end. Untul the medal was certain. Then I opened up and heard all the crowds cheering for me and the noise at the stadium. And then I just jumped and jumped and jumped. This means that the work we have put in has paid off and this is like a start of a new era for me. I have had struggled after my teanage success and now I finally made it to the senior level and it is great. |
