This was a good qualification round, but we were expecting a good mark. [About this mark consolidating both her confidence and her reputation as a world class athlete] Definitely, but everytime I come out to compete, my goal is to do a good mark. I don't do well in the heat or in cold conditions, so today's weather conditions were fine - I just had to grab the discus, and let it take is natural course. Eveytime I reach a final, my goal is to fight for one of the medals - it is challenging, but we always aim and fight for a medal. If that doesn't happen, we try to do the best we can. It is true, I'm usually happy when I do my best - even if that is enough for a medal - and I try to challenge myself every time. The World Championships were kind to me, but I felt I could throw even further - what happened here tonight just showed what I have been doing in my training sessions. Sometimes, we need to share our thoughts about what people back home can't see - I'm not usually a very talkative person, and when I started talking more was because that was a change from within. I like to share peaceful thoughts, so people can support us more and criticise less. |
This was a qualification at my gusto. It could not have gone better. Technically there could have been some improvements because I worked too much with my arms and did not do enough with my legs. The pre-camp in Erding was really good, well organized, we could calm down and focus. Tomorrow I would like to start with a similar result like today, around 64 metres. And then everyting is possible. This are my first major European champs and it is great to have it in Germany, with friends and family supporting us. My parents are here this evening, they only saw one throw (laughs). I know that tomorrow the atmosphere and the support will be even greater for us discus throwers. |
