It's been a really tough couple of weeks - to do three champs is nice on paper, but I hung in there for a medal. I always knew it was going to to be tough going for gold, but I did my best. I went hard after that first 1K - I was doing 72s for quite a lot of the race, but there were still four girls hanging on - so there were five of us. But, yes, I am proud of my performance. I can't complain - two medals last week and another one today - it has been a crazy, crazy two weeks. To be honest, I knew maybe after half way, I was dropping 72 [second] pace, so I knew these girls were going to run a National Record at this pace. I knew it was going to be like PBs for a lot of us as well. I tried to break the group to much as I could, but [Yasmin] CAN was just too strong tonight. I also have 5 races in my legs: three from Eugene, two from the Commonwealth Games, so it was always going to be a tough act to come here, and race someone like that. I knew she would be such a strong competitor, and she fully deserves it. She put in some big laps there tonight, and I just couldn't go with that pace - but I am still really proud of my effort. I did what I could, and it's another medal to end my season. One of the toughest things has been gearing yourself up for more Championships. We had such a high, and a lot of lack of sleep, so many emotions after that race [in Birmingham], the late night racing, and a whole lot of media which I am not really used to - 7am to 2pm on your feet - then, doing it all again for the 5K at the Commonwealth Games. To come here again, and try the whole emotions again it was probably a big ask to win a medal, but I did it. So, honestly, I am really proud of myself. Deep down, I would have liked to be European Champion, I have silver already, but I gave it my best, so I can walk off the track saying that I am proud of that. |

I had bad problems with my stomach and they got worse at 6K. Plus cramps. But because of the fans and the many encouraging messages I got I fought and ran until the finish line. It still is the highlight of my year! I simply could not have stopped running, not here, not at the European champs in Munich. I have to work more on my nutrition. |

All my country was waiting for this medal and they were expecting it from me so I am very glad and happy I managed to get it today. It is a very important result for me also because I did not start at the World championships so I feel hungry for competing. I want to try the double and to run the 5000m as well. The competition was good and the crowd was very nice because it made me moving forward. The weather was very nice today. I was trying to move and push it forward but nobody was following me. At the 3000m, I was starting the kick. I was a bit wrried that they will get over me but I had a good feeling and I managed it. This year is really good for me. We will see what is coming up for me. |

The atmosphere here was sooo good. This competition is one month after my marathon race in Eugene, so on the last 1.5k there was no energy left in my legs and I had to let them go. I am excited for the medal and our national record. The recovery from marathon takes a lot of time. Plus, I do not train speed for 10K any more. Today was only my second 10K race this year. For me it is hard to change from long distances to short distances. And I also cannot get used to the shoes, the spikes. The shoes are different, too. |

I could roll with the two others and I was happy when the pace got faster. But at some moment, I did not have enough power to follow this pace. It is extremely disappointing in front of your home crowd. I was expecting a fast time but my preparation was not ideal. I could not follow the pace and at some moment you simply have to accept that. Coming forth and not getting a medal is always frustrating. I still have the 5K race. I tried not to think too much of the big history of the Olympic stadium and everything, I tried to keep this out of my mind before and during the race. |
