Second 20.85 q |
I am tired. Generally, I am not in the best shape of my life this year. Honestly, I do not know what to expect in the final and I am not sure about my capacity now. So we will see. I want to surprise myself. |

Third 20.30 q |
This season is really tough and Stanek and Sinancevic will definitelly be the strongest in the field to beat. We are expecting a big fight for the gold, big throws, big results. For me, the qualification was OK but the pre-lims are very tough knowing that you have to throw very far. It made me feel a bit more nervous. But I feel generally well prepared, I am healthy and that is the most important thing. Other guys showed that it is possible to throw far so it is a good sign also for me. After Eugene it was tough to travel there and back because of the time diferrence but it was the same for most of the guys. So I am ready to fight today. |

It feels great [to be competing at the European Championships]. I am very happy with my qualification to the final. It wasn't that easy. My first couple of throws were bad, just bad, but I proved myself that I could throw far, especially because I am not used to throw in the morning. I am that guy who likes to throw in the afternoon or evening - hopefully, this evening it will be much better. It's hard to say [how far I need to throw to finish in a medal position or even take the win], the guys are really strong and it is going to be a very good competition - 6 or 7 guys can throw over 21 metres. It will be tough competition but I think I am ready. After Oregon, I could finally train because I had an injury before the World Champs - so I just laid down on the bed for ten days before that, I took pain killers to even being able to walk. Finally, after the World Champs, I could get back to my training, go to the gym, do some throwing and jumping - so now I can all the normal things that I usually do. I am not thinking about throwing 22.5 metres now, I just want to enjoy, to get joy from throwing, to have fun, and hopefully it will be a great evening. |
