Event Reports

Silver 21.39
I am so happy, it was a great Shot Put battle - I gave my absolute everything The competition was very tense, everybody throwing very similar marks but it was great for the spectators. I must remind you that I threw the furthest mark during the qualification round - 21,82 metres - and I was hoping that I that I could take the win. But I am very happy with the silver medal, especially because it was a good fight between mself, Filip [MIHALJECVIC] and Tomas [STANEK] - I am also vert happy for Filip taking the gold medal.
Gold 21.88 SB
What an amazing night. I have been working hard all year and it paid off. It was a tough competition, and very emotional. I am really happy, I could not ask for more with this placement and a SB. It was a tactical race, I mean mentally. My mind was strong. The tactic was to stay calm and believe in what you have done before. I knew it would be the three of us. I came on top. The qualification this morning was tough. I came back here this afternoon with a fresh head and peace of mind. There was a lot of weight on my shoulders. This is really exciting! The fans in Germany, they really know athletics. Tonight I threw for my little son at home who is nine months old. My uncle lives in Munich, they are here in the stadium tonight, 10 people! Danke, Munich!
Bronze 21.26
I knew I had it in me but I could not sell it today. These competitions - qualification and the final in one day, it is a specific thing and it did not fit me well today. The two other guys had a good timing with their performances and I did not know what to expect from them before the competition. But the bronze is a nice result for me despite the fact that I know I could have thrown much more. I felt like my hand was staying behind the body so it was like throwing uphill. The legs were a bit slower than the rest of the body, I was impatient and did not sell the potential. I was throwing from the palm, not from the fingers. I felt great and it looked well before the event. Just these little details. I am a bit angry about my performance because I got nervous and waited until the very end if somebody throws over me. But every medal counts.
