Event Reports

Third 5.65 q
I would say this was a good day, I feel good. I was able to save some energy, I am relaxed and feeling confident. Everything is going according to plan to the final. It was a little tricky with the wind at first, but you can catch it really nice - and when it the wind settles down, it is really slow, it's a really beautiful place to jump. I think it will be good. Sometimes you need a little bit of luck [to catch the wind], but we are going to be jumping late in the final on Saturday, and I think that will help. It is going to be easy, I think it is going to be good. I feel pretty good, and in the qualifying round you just want to qualify - I was able to do that. I guess we will have to see [about jumping a World Record] in the final. The first goal is always to try and win the gold. If I am able to do that, then we will see. If I were a car [during the qualifying round] I probably say I was in middle to low gear.
Third 5.65 q
Well, everytime is stressful to do the qualifications. I'm really happy to be able to made it. I'll focus on the final now and try to do my best. This was a good start of the competition for me. I can't wait to jump on Saturday night. Honestly, my main goal is to be on the podium. If I need to jump 5.85, 5.90 or 5.95 m, I will do my everything to do it. In Eugene I was very close at 5.94 m and now I'm in the better shape. I believe that my level is now between 5.90 and 5.95 m and I hope that it will be enough for the podium. I am not completely healthy right now but I am getting better and better. I am definately in a better shape than I was in Eugene which is better for me. When I am on the track, I almost forget about everything. I always focus on my run and the jump. Honestly, I feel that I have enough batteries in my body to make a battle with other guys. My brother (Valentin) had very strange season. He had a very good indoor season but during the outdoors he is still in trouble. It is a shame not to have a mark at two competitions in a row... But he will for sure be back at the training and get back stronger. On the other hand, Thibaut was good enough to think about the final in Eugene but it was hard. Now he got a good revenge. We all train together and we are happy to compete together. I hope our team will do great on Saturday.
