I didn't want to do a lap of honour before being absolutely sure that I had won a medal. I had to wait for a couple of hours, so I'm finding it hard to be excited right now, but I am looking forward to the medal ceremony. I hope this is just the first of many medals for Team France. I am grateful for the work of our Team Leaders in getting the protest in - it is not easy to celebrate right now after wondering for so long whether I had a medal or not. I am happy though. The last time France took a medal in the Long Jump was at the 2010 European Championships with Kafetien Gomis. I am grateful to my coach Rober Emmiyan - actually, Robert should have competed, and would have propbably won - and I am very proud to be part of his team alongside Erwan Kpnate. Eveything is going in the right direction, and I hope it continues like this for many years to come. |
Silver 8.06 |
What an amazing evening. Germany is definitely the best country to host this kind of events and championships. I am soo happy because I just heard 2 minutes ago that I went from bronze medal to silver medal. Because of the new rule which says that you are no longer allowed to roll on the board. So now I got the silver medal. I am super happy. Today I was not in the shape for a gold medal, but I wanted to fight for silver. Yesterday my body was more responding, but today I was very sore. |

It is really hard to put into words, the crowd here is amazing. Germans really get behind the field events, and it just elevates the competition. I don't think it's quite hit me yet, but I think it might when I'm back at the hotel, and and lay down - Europeam silver medallist has a nice ring to it. It's been a really interesting year. I opened up [the season] with a windy 8.45, and I messed up my achilles, and have been carrying this achilles problem with me. So, coming into these Championships, I really didn't know what to expect. After a good day yesterday, and a season best, I knew I could elevate that today. Starting out in the first round with 8.06, I knew it would put some pressure on people, so I did my job. I was ranked 22nd, came away with 2nd, it just goes to show that wehen you give people the opportunity to compete, they can elevate themselves, and I think I did that. |

As I told youafter the qualification, it was just about the right day, when it comes. The final is like a really different story today. This time, I was ready and prepared for something big. Finally, I proved that I can do it. I put everything together and it just worked well. The championships record was something I was looking for and I longed for it. I started the competition with the fault but then I settled it down and did a save second jump. I was just waiting for a good moment when the wind stops. And it worked. It was a good competition because I had my family and friends in the stands supporting me and it was a big help. I was expecting also other guys jump like 820 but it did not happened. Now, the Diamond League final is the next and then vacation. This result is very special for me especially it is a championsjips record so it has a special taste. |
