Event Reports

Gold 87.66
I still cannot seize it, I cannot believe it. I am on cloud nine. I have been longing for this medal for a very long time. I will celebrate here in Munich, in this stadium. Munich audience, you are really amazing. I did not do any warm-up throws because I had so much pain in my back. My physios and the doctors still did a great job. So, with this pain, I guess, there was less pressure for me. I guess, this was a key factor. At the first attempt I tried to put everything in and it was overwhelming that I got 83m on my first attempt. This strong start helped me a lot during the rest of the competition. It was overwhelming to do a honorary lap here. I will never forget this in my life.
Bronze 86.44 PB
This is a nice feeling, it means a lot to me. I still have some years in me, but I'm in the right place to take a medal. I have been fourth a couple of times, even finished sixth and eight place before - so close to the medals, and finally I have it. Saving some energy in the qualifying round paid off. I was already feeling good then, and in the warm-up ahead of the final.
Silver 87.28
The silver medal is a very good result for me but you know, I wanted to win. But I am very glad for Weber because he won on the home soil and made the crowd so happy. He also deserved the medal after so many fourth places. I am glad I managed to get my first European medal. It is very special because I also had a huge support of the Czech fans in the crowd. I wanted to bring the medal home. Silver for 87 meters, it is not a failure. I go on and I am ready to work hard even more. I knew that the first throw could be enough for a medal. Julian was one of the guys who could throw further. So I risked a bit and now, when I completed my silver collection, I would definitelly love to add a different colour. Julian managed to beat me with the last throw already earlier in this season. So I knew that anything can happen this season when there are so many strong throwers over 89m. I think the fans helped him tonigh and he was not too tense. It was a big help for him coming from the crowds.
