Gold 2.30

It was an amazing night, an amazing night. I felt this vibe inside me because of the crownd and because of the atmosphere - it was amazing! I said that we could really jump high, and everyone in the stadium became part of the competition just by the way they were supporting us. My goal is always to try and involve everyone, so they can have fun, because they paid for a ticket to have fun, and to be part of the competition. I missed a chance at World outdoor Championships, and to win that outdoor gold medal is all that is in my mind. Of course, the Paris Olympic Games is my second goal, but to win the gold and the World Championships means that I would have medalled in all competitions - it means a lot.

I am glad to get this medal but I can tell you, my head is somewhere else. I could not focus on the competition, I was very emotional. Just before the start, I saw the message on our whatsup group that a mother of one of my team mates Kateryna Tabashnyk was killed today by a missile in Kharkiv.
I do not know why all this is happening to her. We had very good relation. I feel very sad and I had to fight with myself in the final today to at least jump. I do not know where I found the power to fight. Of course, medal is great and the gold was not far. But we were also fighting a tough conditions today with rain and my legs just did not want to run and jump properly.
I stay here until the 20th August, then I go back to Poland and I should start in Lausanne. Then, I am hoping for the Diamond league final in Zurich.

This medal is really phat. Getting on the podium was my big goal, I dreamt of it. I soaked every moment of tonight's final. I tried not to get too taken away by the emotions and I was able to do so until the last jump where I was not patient enough, my nerves. The evening was long with a lot of delays but I said to myself "I know that, this is not new, I can handle that". I wanted to show a 2.30 height, but I got too impatient at the end It is great to have so much family and friends here, I am from Munich and I spotted so many people I know, also my former physical education teacher. Thank you, Munich. It was fun competing tonight and I was happy to see that so many people did not run away from the rain. The last jump, I kind of gave it away, but this is sports. Next time I would like to fly higher.
