Gold 27:46.13
I am really happy with thils gold medal tonight, especially after having won a bronze in the past. Compared to fours years go, in Berlin 2018, I feel I have changed a lot - especially my mindset, I a much stronger mentally than I was in the past. I run that last lap thinking that I had to look out for Jimmy Gressier - I knew he was the one I had to look out for. Although he was the big favourite to win this race, it looks like tonight it was my night, and not [Jimmy] Gressier's night. I believed in myself, and I knew I could do what I did tonight. Tonight was a special night, with this beautiful crowd watching me being the winner. This is reward for my career so far. I would like to dedicate this medal to all my family, and friends.
Silver 27:46.94 PB
I am absolutelly happy about my result - this is the first time at such major international championships and it was a dream for me to win a medal today. Also because of this, it was very difficult for me today. I was very nervous before the race and did not exactly know what to expect. With all the cheering of the fans, it was something I have never experienced before. It was a great atmosphere.
It was in my head to win a medal but it was just a dream. My next big start will be in Coppenhagen. But I want to be a marathon runner. I want to try it this season. I think after the next meeting, I will try to run a marathon.
Bronze 27:47.13 PB
There was not race strategy for me, the goal was to be amongst the first eight. My legs felt good during the race and I was afraid of nothing. I kept some energy and was able to use it on the last meters. I would have never thought that I could win a medal today. I am only training six times a week because I study medicine and I am going through 40 hours of work training. Now with the Olympic Games coming up in Paris I will increase the number of trainings, up to 7 or 8. But my body still has to adjust to this, so it will never be 12 or so. I want to enjoy this medal and my new PB. It is great to start exploiting my potential from now on. I am only 26 years old and this is my first big championship. My big goal, of course, is 2024. So, today was a great experience on my way to Paris 2024. It will give me a big motivation. The audience here is unbelievable. The stadium is nearly full with nearly 50.000 spectators. But I did not let my emotions take me away. I kept a cool head.
