Women's Balance Beam

On winning gold
"I feel amazing. I am so proud of myself and am so happy with this medal. I really have no words for it.

"I didn't watch the other gymnasts before me. Then it was my turn and I tried to stay focused. Of course I hoped that it would be enough for a gold medal. I am happy it was."

"I worked a lot for this. My family, friends and coaches all helped and supported me throughout. I could have not done it without them. This really was an amazing day and I am very happy it all worked out for me."

"With the team we got a medal (bronze) yesterday and now Elisabeth SEITZ (GER) and I got a medal as well, this is just amazing. This week couldn't have gone any better."

On taking silver
"I can't believe it at all. I went into this final with no expectations on myself. There are just no words to describe it, really.

"I just did the beam routine I usually do. Obviously I didn't get some of the connections and the dismount could have gone better. But I really just did what I came to do."

On whether she watched the gymnasts that competed before her:
"Usually I watch beam routines, because it doesn't really bother me. But obviously I had to go up last. I'm not used to go up last, I'm normally always the first one, especially when we compete with the team.

"So I thought I go in with a new tactic. I didn't watch anything and didn't listen to any of the scores. I just focused on myself. I didn't even think about the beam routine that I was going to do. I just put my mind elsewhere, thinking about other stuff. It worked (laughs)."

On what's next for her after having competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the European Championships in just a short time-span:
"I think the adrenaline is keeping me going at the moment. I am very tired, but obviously I got Worlds trials to work towards. So I have to keep going, keep progressing and improving. I'm excited (for that)."
On taking bronze
"I am overwhelmed with emotions. It shows that France is up there, even though we had some mistakes yesterday (they finished sixth in the team final). We did great today."

On how she prepared for her routine:
"I haven't watched any of the other routines, I just focused on myself and my own routine. That was the key to a good routine."
On finishing fifth (she is the 2021 world silver medalist and 2017 world champion):
"Of course it's hard for me, because I would have liked to medal here. I was quite disappointed with my score at first, but I didn't see much of the other routines so it's difficult to compare.

"If I had done the routine the way I should have done it, I could have scored higher. But fact is that I had some mistakes at the start of my routine. Luckily enough I managed to get myself together and fight through. But it wasn't enough.

"Of course it is sad, especially because I had such a good feeling about today. I am sure I will be up there one day."

"After a bit of disappointment, it's mainly the proud feeling that predominates about this week. I am super proud about the bronze medal we won in the team competition yesterday. That was phenomenal and historic."
