Men's Floor Exercise

On taking bronze on floor and gold on vault:
On also taking a bronze on floor:
"To be honest, today I just wanted to have fun. It's funny, because normally I'm a tad nervous for these pieces. But today going into that floor routine I wasn't nervous at all, I just wanted to enjoy it.

"I am grateful for the routine. I hope I can focus on tidying everything up and being able to produce a better routine in the future."

On winning gold on vault after having replaced Giarnni REGINI-MORAN (GBR):

"It was the most last-minute thing that ever happened to me. To come away with a gold medal, I can't describe how I'm feeling right now.

"Being on that podium, seeing the flag in the middle, it just gives me goosebumps."

On having to compete after Giarnni REGINI-MORAN (GBR) withdrew:
"It's been a long few weeks. It's been hard on all of us, psychically. Obviously, you want to get through the competition safe and I think it was in his best interest to make sure he his fit and healthy because we have other competitions coming up.

"For me, it was a huge second chance and I just wanted to make sure I did him proud and I think I have."

"As soon as I landed on my feet, I knew I had done well. I never would have thought I would have done that well (winning gold), being against the gymnasts that were there. I remember watching them when I was younger. To be able and compete against them, is just crazy."

On a successful summer including four gold medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and two golds and a bronze at Munich 2022:
"It's been the craziest few months. At the end of last year and the first two or three months of this year I was injured. I was not able to do all six pieces. There was a time I couldn't do any pieces.

"I wouldn't have ever thought I would be here with the medals I have today. I can't quite get my head around how far I've come since the start of this year. I am grateful to have these opportunities."

On finishing fourth after winning the 2021 world title on floor:
"I have to congratulate the athletes who beat me today. Artem Dolgopyat (ISR) is an Olympic champion (and the 2022 European champion), he is a legend."

"Today I didn’t compete my best routine, but it still wasn’t bad. Unfortunately it wasn't enough."

On his experience at the European Championships, finishing fourth on floor and taking silver in the team final:

"Yesterday we achieved a historic medal for the Italian team, because it was the first medal for the team and that was my personal goal.

"I’m here to do the best routines for the team, not for myself.

"But if you do also a individual final, you expect the best result. And if the best result doesn’t come up, it is difficult to accept."

On winning gold:
"Now I'm feeling very good.

"I had a little problem with my leg, but I finished this competition with this medal."

On competing after injuring his leg not long ago:
"I had little bit problem with my leg.

"It was very difficult for me (here), I did not do just floor, but I did five apparatus with the team. We didn't compete so good, but today I'm here with this medal."

On his plans for the World Championships in Liverpool (GBR) after winning both the Olympic and European title on floor:
"I hope I can do it (again there). Let's see."

On taking silver:
"I am very happy. I didn't think I would become a European silver medallist.

"I really need to say thank you to my coach, because this wasn't possible without him. I am very happy with this result."

On his future:
"I believe we can go to the Paris (2024) Olympics. That's my goal."
